A Network Operating System is an essential part of any client-server network.  The NOS enables a network to share resources across itself as well as enhancing security by providing the means of access to both soft and hard resources in the network.  There are various types of network operating systems in use today, but all share a set of common tasks and features including account management and resource sharing.
